Falooda: A Cold and Sweet Beverage

A very easy yet delicious cold and sweet beverage which has its roots to middle eastern countries was brought to India during Mugal Period.This is usually served as a dessert beverage and is mostly enjoyed in hot humid summers of Indian subcontinent.


Falooda


Serves 2-3 people 

Ingredients:
 
4 cups of milk
5 pods of cardamom crushed
1/2 packet of falooda noddles
1tb spoon of takmaria seeds(basil seeds)
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
2-3 tb spoon rose syrup
2 tb spoon sugar
A pack of falooda ice cream  or kesar pista (safforn pistachios)icecream(available in any indian grocery stores)
 
 
 
 
 Method:
  • Take the milk and boil it in a sauce pan.Let it simmer for 20 mins along with cardamom and sugar.
  • In another sauce pan add some water and bring it to boil.Add the falooda noodles.
  • Noddles will be ready in 5 mins approximately.Drain the noodles in a seive and set aside.
  • Soak takmaria/basil seeds in a bowl full of water.set it aside.They will absorb water and will look translucent jelly like seeds.
  • Empty the boiled milk in a bowl and let it cool.
  • To the cooled milk add rose syrup.If you dont have rose syrup add rose essence and red food color, you will need 2 tbspoon extra sugar too.
  • Add in boiled falooda noodles and takmaria seeds.
  • Refrigerate the milk mixture.It should be cooled before serving.
 
 
 
Serving:
 
In a serving glass add little bit milk mixture then add a scoop of either falooda icecream or kesar pista (Go wild with you imagination and add any flavour you want) then pour in little more milk mixture on top.Enjoy this cool refreshing beverage any day any time.
